Over the span of just a few years, the fire industry has seen a surge of battery-powered tools hit the market. From ventilation fans to extrication tools and everything in between, there is now an arsenal of battery-powered equipment at firefighters’ disposal, and the options keep growing. In fact, Command Light, a leader in emergency vehicle lighting, now offers DC-powered battery lights with its recent EOS Rapid Deploy Light launch, which accompanies the popular Command Light Trident Tripod. Both the EOS and Trident are the only lighting products of their kind that let departments choose their power source, along with their favorite firefighter LED.
“Command Light’s segway into battery lighting marks the first time in industry history that fire departments can pair a DeWalt FLEXVOLT, Makita XGT, Milwaukee M28, or LUKAS EWXT/E3 battery with a high-lumen LED made for the fireground,” Command Light President Roger Weinmeister explained. “We really wanted to create lighting that works with crews’ other battery-operated tools, all the while delivering even more light than traditional mobile lights. We know that mobile lights and work tripods aren’t new to the market, and yet we recognized that the choice in LEDs and power sources was always limited, so now, we’re changing that with these Command Light products.”
Command Light is following in the footsteps of its sister company, Super Vac, which has taken the battery-powered fan market by storm by building on the concept of utilizing non-proprietary, easy-to-source batteries that can be found at most local hardware stores. Not only will this tripod complement these ventilation tools, but this new light will also work with other firefighter rescue tools that utilize these same battery platforms.
In addition to the four non-proprietary battery options, departments can choose from a variety of LED fixtures, including Akron Revels, FRC Spectras, FireTech Guardians, Whelen Pioneer Plus, or Fenix Arrow Sticks. Together, these options account for 12 different tripod lighting options. Meanwhile, the EOS is available with four different fixture choices. Run times vary from 40 minutes to 300 minutes, depending on the battery and light head combination.
