The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has announced several new dates for its Foundation Course in Passive Fire Protection at both Level 2 and Level 3.

The level 3 courses will take place in Manchester, starting on 15th August over a period of 7 days. In Reading the 7-day course will begin on 17th August and in Dublin on 7th September. The 4-day Level 2 courses will take place in Coventry from 1st September and in Dublin on the 7th September. Revision courses will also help learners to prepare for the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) exams which will run from 2nd to 5th October in Dublin.

These courses provide a foundation in fire safety and fire science, as well as units on different forms of passive fire protection. Candidates can then study towards obtaining level 2 and level 3 qualifications provided by IFE.

These are the only passive fire protection qualifications in the UK and Ireland recognised by regulators Ofqual. Furthermore, those who obtain the IFE Level 3 Certificate are eligible to apply to join the IFE at Technician grade enabling them to gain professional recognition in the global fire sector and use the post nominal TIFireE.

The training is suitable for all involved in the construction industry from designers and specifiers to contractors and specialist installers. Courses are also suitable for building owner occupiers, fire risk assessors and enforcement agencies.

The courses are in high demand, with the majority of students continuing their studies to sit IFE examinations, which take place in March and October each year. These qualifications allow delegates to formally demonstrate their knowledge and experience.

For those looking to study remotely, the Level 2 and 3 courses are also available to study online via our unique interactive learning platform. This uses adaptive learning techniques to tailor teaching to each individual’s skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours (SKEBs), ensuring every learner receives precisely the right level of instruction and support to achieve exceptional levels of understanding and proficiency.
