Redline Fire Solutions has unveiled two new fire suppression products aimed at tackling the growing threat of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries.
The dual-agent system—comprising Thermal Stop and Thermal Shield—is designed to suppress and contain battery fires across a range of settings, including electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage systems.
The company describes the launch as a response to the increasingly common and hazardous nature of lithium-ion incidents, which often resist traditional suppression methods.
“Lithium-ion battery fires are not like anything we’ve fought before,” said Chrystel Worsman of Redline Fire Solutions. “Cooling alone is not enough. Thermal Stop rapidly halts the chemical reaction while Thermal Shield prevents re-ignition during transport and recovery. Together, they offer a complete solution unlike anything currently in use.”
Thermal Stop is a high-performance liquid agent formulated to penetrate battery cells and chemically interrupt thermal runaway.
It is followed by the application of Thermal Shield, a protective gel that traps toxic gases, encapsulates hazardous materials, and prevents reignition during removal or transport—critical points at which fire risk can return.
Both products are certified to NFPA 18 standards and developed using ingredients listed under the EPA Safer Choice Programme, supporting their environmental credentials and field performance.
To support global rollout, Redline has appointed KnightTEK as its exclusive worldwide distributor. The company, known for its work in high-risk industrial environments, will handle deployments across municipal, industrial, and wildland firefighting sectors.
“Lithium-ion fires are no longer rare. They’re in our homes, our streets, and our cities,” said Stephen Knight, CEO of KnightTEK. “Our partnership with Redline allows us to deliver not just a product, but a complete, field-tested system to first responders who urgently need better tools for this new class of fire.”
Redline’s technology has been shaped by direct fire service experience, notably that of its founder and CEO, Chief Phil Worsman, a veteran California State Fire Instructor.
“We created Thermal Stop and Thermal Shield with the fireground in mind,” said Chief Worsman. “As a firefighter, I’ve seen firsthand how dangerous and unpredictable lithium-ion fires can be. These products are the result of years of field testing and innovation, driven by a mission to give firefighters the tools they need to win the fight safely and efficiently.”
Redline and KnightTEK are encouraging emergency services, hazmat teams, and fire departments to get in touch for product demonstrations, training, and procurement information.
