HIKMICRO Pioneers New Thermal Cameras

HIKMICRO is pioneering an all-encompassing range of reliable and durable infrared thermal cameras, proven to perform on a consistent basis in even mission critical industries and applications.

Their technologically advanced range of firefighting thermal imagers is the most recent to benefit – ‘born from fire, built for more’ and designed for any professional operator where clarity is crucial and failure is not an option.

The new, uncompromising and highly affordable FP21 pocket-sized thermal imager is the latest essential tool for firefighters. Designed for rapid deployment, its compact form factor and bright 3.2” LCD screen ensure instant intelligence is always on hand, providing critical information within seconds. Advanced SuperIR technology cuts through obscurants like smoke, dust, and darkness to reveal hidden threat hotspots and details that would otherwise be missed – providing stunning clarity in the most challenging environments.

Housed in impact-resistant PPSU polymer and boasting an IP67 rating, the FP21 is completely dustproof and waterproof. It withstands extreme radiant heat exposure of up to 260°C (500°F), ensuring operation where other devices would fail, while scene-adaptive functionality in the form of Automatic Gain Control (AGC) and Optimised Detail Enhancement (ODE), optimizes imagery across diverse scenes without having to adjust equipment.

The FP21 supplements the work of the more advanced (but still pocket-sized and extra rugged for firegrounds and beyond) FP31, which has a visual rather than thermal lens and higher resolution, field of view, object temperature range and storage capacity.

It’s also equipped with two laser modules, in the form of a visible laser pointer for intuitive target marking, plus a laser distance meter to measure distance to objects on-screen. This means a responder can point to a specific pipe or heat source, measure the distance and relay that information clearly during rescue or inspection missions.

These latest portability innovations from HIKMICRO are backed up by high performance and established handheld thermal camera options, with eight colour palettes and for observing in total darkness and smoke. The compact and cost effective FB21 features a highly sensitive (NETD < 40 mK) Vox detector and optimized image enhancement algorithms, with a class-leading 3.2” colour LCD screen and is IP65 rated for protection against water and dust. It’s the ideal handheld thermal imager for frontline firefighters and volunteers.

Meanwhile, the FT31 is HIKMICRO’s primary handheld tool for ultra-high-risk rescues and operations and favoured by fire chiefs, incident commanders and post-fire investigators. It boasts a more sensitive NETD < 35 mK VOx detector, along with ODE (Object Details Enhancement) functionality; is IP67 rated for even better protection levels and its 60 Hz fast image frequency delivers smooth video while panning across scenes or viewing moving targets.

“In the heart of an inferno, where pressure is crushing, heat is intense, and visibility is zero, a thermal imager must do more than just work – it must endure. Our firefighting range was engineered for this reality and embodies our commitment to creating tools that professionals can bet their lives on,” said Shadow Zhang, HIKMICRO Overseas Brand Manager at HIKMICRO.

“We didn’t just want to create another thermal imager with the FP21 we wanted to build a symbol of reliability. ‘Born for Fire. Built for More’ isn’t just a tagline, it’s our promise that this dynamic new model, along with the established FP31, FB21 and FT31 will always deliver clarity and performance when and where it matters most.”

HIKMICRO firefighting range delivers far beyond the fire ground – safely identifying overheating electrical components, mechanical failures and insulation leaks to prevent industrial downtime and accidents; speedy technical/people search and rescue, day or night, in urban disaster zones and vast mountain wilderness settings, as well as patrolling dark and deep areas with ease and detecting intrusions and concealed threats not visible to the naked eye in security and maritime settings.

HIKMICRO are displaying their all-encompassing firefighting range at leading civil security event CNSP 2025 (8-11 October) in Le Mans, France. Look out for them at customer Dumont Sécurité’s stand ROT-B19.
