Element Materials Technology Invests US $13M in Canadian Growth

Element Materials Technology (Element), a global leader in materials and product qualification testing, inspection, and certification services (TIC), has unveiled investments totaling USD 13 million in its Canadian operations, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, customer experience, and growth in the region.

In Toronto, Ontario, Element has established a new 54,000 square foot industrial laboratory specializing in fire testing and building sciences. This facility consolidates and enhances Element’s capabilities in these critical areas, offering comprehensive services to the construction, aerospace, and transportation sectors. The laboratory is designed to reduce delivery times and improve accessibility for customers requiring advanced fire safety and materials testing.

Simultaneously, Element has invested in a new life sciences laboratory, also located in Toronto. This facility focuses on pharmaceutical testing and features significant upgrades across various departments, including metals testing, materials characterization, and extractables/leachables and nitrosamines analysis. The new laboratory strengthens Element’s ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality testing services in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Rick Sluiters, Executive Vice President for Americas at Element, commented on the investments, stating, “This USD 13 million investment in our Canadian operations underscores our commitment to providing world-class facilities and expertise. These two specialized laboratories will significantly enhance our ability to support product development and certification across multiple industries, enabling our customers to bring critical products and services to market faster and with greater assurance of safety and quality.”

Jordan Church, General Manager for Element Toronto – Fire Testing, added, “Our new industrial laboratory represents a major leap forward in fire testing and building sciences capabilities. With state-of-the-art equipment and a team of over 30 highly-qualified professionals, we’re now positioned to offer the most comprehensive and advanced services in the region. This facility will allow customers to witness our capabilities firsthand, strengthening their confidence in our testing processes.”

Tim Purbrick, General Manager for Element Toronto – Life Sciences, expressed his excitement about the investment, saying, “The new life sciences laboratory is a game-changer for our pharmaceutical testing services. Our expanded capabilities will significantly accelerate our customers’ product development cycles. This investment enables us to stay ahead of the evolving needs in the life sciences industry, ultimately helping to bring safer and more effective products to market.”

Both laboratories are now open and fully operational, having completed equipment transfer and qualifications. These investments form part of Element’s ongoing strategy to deliver cutting-edge facilities, technical expertise, and an unparalleled customer experience across the Greater Toronto region and beyond.
