Allegion Launches Fire Door Logbook

Allegion UK has unveiled a new Fire Door Hardware Logbook, launched in support of this year’s Fire Door Safety Week.

The practical guide has been developed to support responsible persons in ensuring correct installation and maintenance of fire door hardware — areas often flagged as weak points in building safety compliance.

Allegion’s logbook aims to improve awareness and reduce risk by offering clear guidance on essential fire door compliance. Designed with simplicity in mind, it also helps streamline documentation and record-keeping for those managing fire safety responsibilities.

The new resource includes detailed walkthroughs for installation and quarterly maintenance checks across all major fire door components. This includes overhead door closers, panic and emergency exit hardware, electromagnetic hold-open devices, seals, locks, latches and door furniture.

By offering a hands-on guide for real-world use, Allegion hopes to equip building owners, facility managers, and safety professionals with the tools they need to uphold the long-term integrity of fire door systems.

Pete Hancox, Country Manager at Allegion UK, said the launch reflects a wider commitment to improving fire safety outcomes:

“As the industry continues to address fire door compliance and building safety, the significance of accurate fire door hardware installation and competent maintenance procedures can’t be overstated.

“Our new Fire Door Hardware Logbook is both a valuable tool and a reminder for building owners, facility managers and responsible persons that fire door safety continues to require attention following the specification process.”

He added that the logbook aligns with Allegion’s wider goal of improving awareness and education across the industry.

The launch marks another step forward in Allegion’s ongoing efforts to support safer buildings and higher fire safety standards throughout the UK.
