Victaulic to present solutions at VdS-FireSafety

From ready-to-install couplings to reduce the risk of fire during installation and operation of pipe connections to water sprinklers for demanding work and storage environments – Victaulic presents its entire product range from fire prevention to fast and efficient extinguishing at the VdS-FireSafety (VdS-BrandSchutzTage) fair from 7-8 December 2022 in Cologne, Germany.

The expert in grooved mechanical pipe joining systems already starts to minimize the risk of a fire from the very first step at the design stage of piping systems and fire protection installations. “A key innovation is our patented Installation-Ready technology. The idea behind these products is: how can we make the installation process more efficient while reducing the risk of incorrect installation?”, says Graeme Leonard, Director of Sales Fire Protection Europe. “The one-bolt design, from this year on being available in the sizes from DN32 to DN100, brings increased efficiencies, safety and value to fire protection systems through an installation time up to six times faster than with traditional couplings.”

The principle of grooved joints also comes into play with Victaulic sprinklers which are particularly in demand where a fast and efficient water supply is required – for example, in the storage of highly flammable materials or in aircraft hangars. “Incorrect installation of sprinklers can unexpectedly drive up project costs. Ready-to-install sprinklers help to significantly minimise this risk,” explains Markus Wrba, Sales Manager Fire Protection Central Europe.

One of the main advantages of FireLock IGS grooved sprinklers is that they are designed to replace threads on both sprinkler outlets and sprinklers. The sprinkler and coupling arrive pre-assembled and require no preparation before installation. Flexible sprinkler fittings complement this offer by facilitating an installation at suspended or hard-lit ceilings and in specialty applications. The biggest time-saver and labor management advantage are the elimination of sprinkler prep work as well as eliminating the need for tape and dope. Utilising visual confirmation of one-bolt pad for proper installation makes installation simple and gives users reassurance.

Victaulic designs its products from a user’s perspective and simplifies precisely those steps that are particularly prone to risk and error in application. A grooved mechanical pipe connection requires the housing of the coupling, including the gasket, to be applied to the grove and finally two bolts to be tightened. The method requires no welding, which is especially important in sensitive environments such as data centres. The Installation-Ready technology minimises both installation times and materials needed on site.
