Mann McGowan has introduced Pyroglaze Compression, a new compressible graphite intumescent seal designed for fire-rated glazing applications.
This development comes as the UK fire door industry prepares for the withdrawal of BS 476-22 by 2029, transitioning to the more demanding EN1634-1 standard. Pyroglaze Compression has been tested to meet and exceed these updated performance requirements.
The product is available for both thirty and sixty-minute fire protection ratings and allows up to 2mm of compression per side of the glass. This capability enables installers to accommodate variations in door, bead, and glass thickness with precision.
During a fire, the intumescent material expands to form a secure seal within the glazing pocket, reducing the likelihood of premature ignition of glazing beads on the protected side.
Developed in partnership with Pyroguard, part of the Saverto group of passive fire protection specialists, Pyroglaze Compression complements Mann McGowan’s existing Pyroglaze range of glazing seals and tapes, which offer protection from 30 to 120 minutes.
The product provides a straightforward dry glazing system that is easy to cut and apply, requiring no cleaning after installation. It has been tested to EN1634-1 with a wide range of EW and EI fire-rated glass types and is suitable for both Integrity (E) and Integrity and Radiation (EW and EI) classifications. The system also holds Certifire approval under certificate number CF5818 (Pyroguard).
