We’re excited to announce that Dirk Sprakel, Chairman Of The Board, FOGTEC Fire Protection, will be joining the esteemed judging panel for the 2025 Fire Buyer Awards, taking place on November 13.
Dirk Sprakel is a leading expert in water mist fire protection, with over 30 years’ experience spanning technical innovation, standardisation, and executive leadership. After graduating from Bochum University in 1994, he began his career as a Product Manager in fluid systems before joining FOGTEC Fire Protection in 1997. As Managing Director for over 25 years, Dirk has guided FOGTEC’s international growth and positioned the company as a global leader in water mist solutions for transport, energy, and infrastructure.
He plays an active role in shaping industry standards worldwide. He is Vice Chairman of the International Water Mist Association (IWMA) and sits on several key committees, including NFPA 502 (Road Tunnels), EN and DIN water mist standards, and the FM and BVES advisory boards.
Dirk’s commitment to advancing fire safety extends to European R&D initiatives such as SUVEREN and SOLIT, and he holds multiple patents in fire protection technologies. From 2011 to 2019, he also served on the supervisory board of DormaKaba KG a.A., contributing to strategic oversight in the global access and security sector.
Dirk shared his thoughts on being part of the judging panel:
