The ALU30

The Aluminium roll-up door

Located near Cholet in France, MCD has been making aluminium roll-up doors for dedicated fire and utility vehicles since 1989.

A simple replacement of the conventional opening doors for utility vehicles, the roll-up door first attracted firefighters to its low obstruction level, fascilitating safe access and simple handling of materials. In addition the opening volume leads to a level of performance and accuracy in a compartmentalised layout which is appropriate and required for such emergency vehicles.

The performance and usage characteristics of MCD products have convinced body builder manufacturers to adopt this safe and efficient system for other kinds of vehicle: Delivery, workshop, road services, airport and recovery trucks.

Associating both the qualities of craftsmanship and precision of industrial production, MCD exports throughout the world. Today MCD’s market fulfills more than 90% of the national requirements and is one of the most important suppliers for fire protection vehicles in Europe. Its products are commercialised in more than forty countries accross Europe, Asia, the Middle East and America. MCD also posesses a manufacturing centre in Poland.

The ALU30

The ALU30 roll-up door is made to measure with double walled installable slats of extruded aluminium 30mm height. The door can be used to close the compartment or as a loading access door. In all types of vehicles it can serve as a replacement of conventional opening doors. The product can be delivered in different RAL colour by powder coating treatment or anodised finish.

The most important aspect of this shutter is the perfect balancing of the door which allows the user to open it with only one finger. Furthermore, MCD deliver it in standard installation in separate parts or as a pre-assembled shutter called “IZY system” in order to save installation time for body builder and be sure the product will be installed following MCD installation guidelines. Only 20 minutes installation time is needed per door in comparison to the usual 1 hour for standard installation when delivered in separate parts.

The product could be personalised using the name and design of the customer to put on the handle thanks to a specific mould for customers.

With 23 years of experience in this field, MCD work in collaboration with its customers and propose a complete range of options to match every request. A full range has been developed and improved year after year. These include the following:

LED light system prepared to the full height of the door installed at the back of the tracks to save space and supply light at any level of the compartment thanks to its vertical installation.

Different switching systems are available in both magnetic or mechanical.

Electric locking system to close all the doors of a vehicle at the same time and provide quick opening operation for fire fighters.

Different closing systems are also available following tender specification. Research and innovation is the leitmotiv of the company. MCD develops and improves the actual product to propose better and new solutions to the body builders throughout the year. The last improvement which was implemented at the start of March 2012 was a relaunched version of the support for the bar lift handle working in partnership with the automotive designer.
