We’re excited to announce that José Musse, Director – Fire Training Center of Peru, will be joining the esteemed judging panel for the 2025 Fire Buyer Awards, taking place on November 13.
José is one of the most influential figures in Spanish-language fire and emergency services literature, with a career spanning education, advocacy, and international collaboration. His widely circulated articles and manuals have shaped professional practice across Latin America, Spain, and beyond, covering everything from firefighting and chemical safety to terrorism and public policy. His work has been translated into multiple languages, including English, German, Chinese, and Japanese.
While in the U.S. with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), José developed AR/VR training for chemical safety and produced a documentary on the Bhopal disaster. He holds certifications in hazardous materials transport and is a recognised expert in hydrogen safety.
José also played a key role in introducing the Incident Command System to Latin America through collaboration with FEMA and the USFA. As Director of Operations for Global Emergency Response, he helped coordinate humanitarian air operations across Latin America. A pioneer in firefighter education, he founded Peru’s first professional fire training centre in 1997.
José shared his thoughts on being part of the judging panel:
