Fire crews called after huge fire breaks out at Nottingham, UK train station
10 fire crews had to be called out to Nottingham railway station on the 12th January 2018 after a gigantic fire broke out at around 06:30.
Smoke filled the foyer in the station and flames were seen from quite a distance, while the relevant authorities evacuated the station and prevented any trains from entering or leaving the site.
The “fully developed fire” spread to the roof after breaking out in the main concourse of the station, and a cordon was quickly put in place both outside the building and around streets nearby.
The fire has wreaked havoc across Nottingham, with major disruption being reported both in the close proximity of the station, and across the city centre.
East Midlands trains confirmed that no-one has been injured as a result of the flames, while the police have stated that “transport in the area will be severely disrupted”.
Recently, Nottingham station underwent a £60 redevelopment, taking several years to complete, which incorporated a new tram bridge and the restoration and upgrade of the Edwardian grade II listed front building.
