Bristol Uniforms expansion continues

Bristol Uniforms, a leading designer and manufacturer of PPE for firefighters across the globe, has increased its workforce by 30% in the last year, now employing more than 170 people.  The company is continuing to expand with the opening of a new International Distribution Centre in Yate near Bristol.

Situated adjacent to the company’s Central Cutting Unit, which officially opened in February this year to handle lay planning and fabric cutting, the 2,600 sq.m. International Distribution Centre will provide essential racking and storage space for new stock, ready for re-distribution to customers.

Bristol’s continued expansion can be attributed to increasing demand from overseas markets, along with several significant UK contract wins including the supply of innovative clothing, equipment and managed services for the new Collaborative Procurement Framework.

According to Ian Mitchell, Bristol Uniforms’ Joint Managing Director, the transfer of cutting, storage and distribution operations to the new Yate facilities has enabled further expansion across all other departments:

“Our new Central Cutting Unit and International Distribution Centre are already having a positive impact on all areas of the business, in particular providing essential space for further expansion of our Production Sewing Line and Western Service Centre at our headquarters in Staple Hill.

“We’ve also been fortunate to welcome more than 35 skilled employees to the company over the last 12 months, from sewing machinists to cutting machine operators, to service centre and office staff.

“As a result, we have been able to almost double the number of garments we are manufacturing compared to last year, and have made great strides in increasing our Managed Services capacity to accommodate rising demand.”
