We know lives depend on it.” After extensive development for more than three years, the new striker delivers innovative fire supression technology’ Advanced safety systems have been built into all aspects of the vehicle’s design. The new Striker is designed to exceed NFPA requirements for static side slope stability and the cab is built to meet Europe’s stringent ECE 29 Cab Certification for structural integrity. The available forward looking Infrared (FLIR) camera and back-up camera are viewed through a centrally located, 10.4-inch (26.4 cm) dedicated video monitor. Other safety features include a low center of gravity, improved turning radius and available disc brakes that offer 11 percent more braking torque over the current Striker for shorter stopping distance. Oshkosh vehicles are renowned for their reliability and durability- and the new Striker continues the tradition. An exclusive walk-in service port (with incorporated drip pan) provides easy access to all filters and fluid checks in a single area. The engine access system allows the entire power pack to be removed from the vehicle for easier maintenance (without involving the water tank). The Striker’s easy-to-diagnose troubleshooting system offers real time data assessment displayed from the 10.4-inch (26.4 cm) screen mounted inside the cab. The vehicle’s smart design features include a Mission Control Console driver environment with function specific, purpose driven controls and color-coded switches and groupings to support trained response actions by firefighters. The jet fighter-like, multifunction joystick control falls within easy reach of the operator. The ergonomically engineered cab offers 84-square feet (7.8-square meters) of glass and an industry leading 238-degree view (at eye level in the horizontal plane), excellent forward, lateral and upward visibility as well as a better view to the roof turret. The spacious cab features 275 cubic feet (7.8 cubic meters) of interior space, enough room to comfortably accommodate up to five firefighters. The body features 63 more cubic feet (1.8 cubic meters) of storage capacity to house more emergency tools and equipment. The Kronenburg Company

The company started at the beginning of the 19th century with the production of bronze nozzles and pumps. Several different versions of the new Kronenburg M.A.C. will be taken into production. Depending on the preferences of the clients the model can be based on a 4×4, 6×6 or 8×8 chassis. The GRP superstructure and cabin are fully customisable and a wide variety of fire fighting systems is available. The self supporting body and cabin are made out of GRP (Glass fibre Reinforced Polyester). A composite material that is not only fire resistant and corrosion proof. It also weighs less than any conventional material which results in improved acceleration and maneuverability for the vehicle. And the shock absorbing nature of the highly durable material provides a safety buffer for the crew in case of any collisions. Any damage to the bodywork is easily repaired and these repairs can be done locally at relatively low costs. All cabins and superstructures have been tested and approved by official institutions and are ISO9001 approved. ‘besides their successful airport crashtenders Kronenburg is also known for being one of the leading manufacturers of mobile fire fighting equipment…’   Repair and Refurbishment In general, all Kronenburg vehicles are specifically designed to allow easy access to major components such as engines, drivelines, pumps and proportioning systems. Kronenburg also provides a Product Support Service which includes a team of engineers that stands by to fly anywhere in the world to assist the end user in case any repairs or upgrades need to be performed. Besides designing and producing new trucks Kronenburg also has a Refurbishment Program which provides midlife updates for all Kronenburg vehicles. This program has been successfully executed for several air forces and civilian airports. Trucks that have been in active service for a while are rebuild and upgraded at the Kronenburg facilities and are returned to the customer in a state that assures another 15 years of operation. For 40-60% of the costs that would be made buying a new truck the used vehicle can be completely refurbished and updated. WHY IR (infrared) FLAME DETECTOR Eye is faster than nose. In the event of live fire the IR flame detector responds immediately. Its behaviour is similar to that of the eye. The minimum flame size that can be detected by the RIV-601/F varies with the distance. It doubles at double distance and is half at half distance. The sensitivity value is 2-3% of the distance. This methodology is based on Gustav Mie’s particle scattering Theory (published 1908), and has enabled Nittan group to design cost effective Optical smoke detectors with a number of enhancements over standard Single Optic smoke detectors and Optical-Heat Multi-sensors. Measurement of the particle size enables the smoke detector to discriminate between combustion particles and much larger particles (Steam, Dust etc) which are a major cause of False Alarms in Automatic Fire Detection systems. In the event that Steam or Dust is present, the decision to Initiate a Fire Alarm condition can be inhibited or delayed. Single sensor Optical smoke detectors (and even Multi-sensors) cannot make this decision, since they can only decide if the amount of scattered light striking the Photo-diode is greater than the Alarm threshold. Single sensor Optical smoke detectors are basically sensitive to large and gray combustion particles generated by TF2 (Smoldering wood fire) and by TF3 (Smoldering cotton fire) and less sensitive to small combustion particles generated by TF1 (Open wood fire) and black particles by TF5 (Liquid (N-heptane) fire). However, using the Dual Photo technique (and compensating algorithms), this lack of sensitivity can be reduced – again since the particle size is effectively being measured. In the presence of small or black combustion particles, the signal can be amplified (multiplied) to take it over the Alarm Threshold. DP detectors can therefore replace Ionisation detectors, which ARE sensitive to small particles. The DP detectors are still optical devices however, so they will remain insensitive to the invisible aerosols that Ionisation detectors respond quickly to (causing False Alarms). Whilst DP detectors will give a reduction of False Alarm signals in the event of Transient Steam or Dust, which would set off Standard Optical detectors, they are generally not suited to being placed in Dirty or Dusty environments. Other detectors are available which can be safely situated in these environments.
