The company’s brightest hand-held tactical light Streamlight® Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced the ProTac HL® 3, a high lumen (HL) light that delivers 1,100 lumens of bright white light. Designed for operations requiring maximum illumination, the programmable, lithium battery-powered flashlight is the brightest addition yet to the company’s series of HL (High Lumen) lights.   “The ProTac HL 3 uses the latest in power LED technology to provide wide, sweeping scene lighting,” said Streamlight Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Michael F. The light also offers a strobe mode.   The ProTac HL 3, powered by three 3-volt CR123A batteries, features a multi-function, push-button tail switch that permits one-handed operation. The light’s TEN-TAP® programmable switch allows users to select from high/strobe/low (the factory default); high only; or low/high. Its run time both on high and in strobe mode is 1.5 hours, while the run time for the low setting is 36 hours.   Fabricated from machined aircraft aluminum, the ProTac HL 3 is 7.10 inches in length and weighs 9.3 ounces. The light has an IPX7 rated design for waterproof operation to one meter for 30 minutes, and is impact resistance-tested to one metre. E2S launches high-performance intrinsically safe alarm horn sounders E2S has launched high-performance, intrinsically safe alarm horn sounders and combination devices with aluminium enclosures. The IS-D105 sounder and IS-DL105 combination device are approved to IECEx and ATEX standards for Zone 0 and the IP66 sealed marine grade aluminium enclosure is phosphated and powder coated, offering enhanced protection for on and offshore applications. The powerful alarm horn produces up to 105 dB(A) at 1 metre with a choice of 49 alarm tones and 2 additional, remotely selectable, alarm stages. For specific applications, custom tone configurations and frequencies can be engineered. The sounder can be combined with an LED beacon featuring an array of 6 high-intensity LEDs. The alarm sounder and LED beacon can be powered through a single Zener barrier or galvanic isolator. Alternatively, the audible and visual elements of the IS-DL105 combination model can be controlled individually. When cabled with a common power supply, the sounder features an alarm accept function. By closing a pair of external contacts such as a push switch, the operator may silence the alarm for set periods between 5 seconds and 2 hours. The LED beacon continues to flash at twice its normal frequency providing indication of an ongoing alarm condition. If after the pre-set time the alarm condition still exists the alarm horn will activate again. The charge will not apply to care homes or domestic properties London Fire Brigade (LFB) has announced that it will now fine firms if they have more than ten false alarm callouts in a year. The charge will be £290 plus VAT, but will not apply to care homes or domestic properties. LFB was called out to 403 locations more than ten times in the last financial year, which cost the brigade £800,000. False alarms from automatic systems resulted in 40,000 callouts last year – one third of all incidents for fire crews in London. If the charge had been in place, LFB would have recouped £500,000 alone from false alarms at hospitals, the most frequent source of the unnecessary callouts. James Cleverly, Chairman of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, said: “The public deserve and expect fire-fighters to be available to attend genuine emergencies rather than attending thousands of false alarms. The vast bulk of automatic fire alarm calls turn out not to be fires, these are often caused by poor management or maintenance of alarm systems." Mr Cleverly added that this was not a money-making exercise, but a way to recover money and properly educate building managers about how to maintain their fire alarm systems. Time spent dealing with hoax calls limits the time fire crews could spend on training and community safety – and could delay attendances at actual emergencies.
